Kidney Walk Report

By: doebtown

The 2009 Pittsburgh Kidney walk on Sunday was a great success! Our
team had over 30 people there representin' and we made a great show.

As far as the much-discussed "shit-ton" of money, we raised over
$6,700 . . . I'm pretty convinced that qualifies!

Heartfelt thanks go out to my sponsors:

Jason A.
Mr. and Mrs. B.
Susan and Scott
Dawn and her family
Tracy and her family
Walker and Laura
Becca and her family (and congrats on the GROWING family!)
David and CC
-and-
Aunt Clare and Uncle Sam

Jan & John, Cindy & Billy, and G & Toko all made contributions to my
dad's walk as well.

I can't thank you all enough.

Now, before I sign off, the purpose of the kidney walk was to raise
funds AND awareness. Since so many of you asked questions like: where
ARE your kidneys and how does one be GOOD to their kidneys, I ran
these questions past a local urologist that I happen to know. He
responds that your kidneys are located high in the very back of your
abdomen, just below your diaphragm. Being good to your kidneys is
quite similar to being good to your entire body. Eating a healthy diet
low in fats, sugars, salt, etc. is always a good idea and will
minimize the disk of hypertension and diabetes that are major causes
of kidney failure. Also keeping yourself well hydrated will lower the
risk of kidney stones.

So that's THAT.

Thanks again to everyone!

Please Support Me In The Pittsburgh Kidney Walk

By: doebtown
**UPDATE: OK, I hate make this all competitive, but our team is currently ONLY $100-some dollars away from being the #1 team in the ENTIRE fund raiser. Thanks SO much to those of you who have already donated. If you HAVEN'T donated yet, and you WANTED to, but were putting it off--for whatever reason--now's the time to act! There's only a couple of days left and with YOUR help, we can blow this thing away.**

Is "a shit-ton of cash" the newest financial denomination of choice?
