The Away Team

By: doebtown
A new experience for us: we went and saw the Pittsburgh Steelers play the New York Jets at Giants Stadium. This was, actually, MANY new experiences for me: 1) despite having lived in New York for so long, I’ve never been to the Medowlands; 2) despite being a Steeler’s fan for so long, I’ve never seen them play as the away team, ACTUALLY, 3) I’ve never seen an NFL game anywhere other than Heinz Field or Three Rivers Stadium.

The outcome of the game notwithstanding, this was a great experience. True, we had to take two subways and a bus to get there, but that’s New York, Baby . . . we ALSO didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for parking, then hike through ten acres of parking lots to get to the gate. And the bus from Port Authority to the Medowlands was nice—it was clean and we didn’t have to deal with any of the traffic.

It was fun to see another stadium. Yeah, they’ve got all the same hotdogs and whatnot, but the cheers ARE a bit different and it’s just a little bit of a different look at something I’ve seen only one way for so long.

Actually, the MOST fun about the whole experience was the reliable Steelers fans. I couldn’t believe it, but the Steelers fan and the Jets fans were ABOUT evenly mixed. Really. Kati and I were afraid that we might be ridiculed for being the only away-team fan, but it couldn’t have been further from the truth. Terrible Towels reigned supreme and cheers for the Black-and-Gold were every bit as abundant as they would have been at Heinz Field.

Too bad the Steelers stunk so bad and couldn’t give us anything to cheer about. But—in the immortal words of my hero, Forrest Gump—“that’s all I have to say about that.”

We had great seats. We had mucho, mucho fun-e-o. And we got to do something new . . . ha! I was just about to say too bad we didn’t have the foresight to put it on KAMLOF so we could get a check mark out if it, but it WAS on KAMLOF! So we DO get a checkmark out of it . . . wow!—maybe I don’t even CARE that the Steelers lost.

(Yes I do.)

At LONG Last...We have a dog!

By: Doebette

Well, it took us a while to find him, but we are pleased to introduce our new dog Weber.
He's 3.5 years old and was rescued from a home where the owner was hording animals. So little Weber got lost in the crowd and is anxious for some attention. Given that Westies are known to actually dislike cats and are prone to chasing- we are very happy with how the initial meeting has gone between Belle and Weber. I'm sure zillions of more pics are coming, but here's just a few!

Comments:
Awwwww.... cute (for a dog).

I came across your blog the other day and was hooked. After going through all your archived posts I returned today with the hope of finding some more recent news, maybe a little selfish of me but nonetheless I was disappointed. You should post more frequently.

Halloween Cuties

By: Doebette

Enjoy these adorable pics of all Five of my neices dressed in their Halloween spookies. Well really only Abby was spooky...the rest of them were pretty cutesy.

Anneliese as a Ghost!

Hannah dressed as Daddy's Little Ghoul (and seems to be blowing us a kiss doesn't she!)

The elder Claus girls representing Alabama football as rival cheerleaders...and Abby- as the Grim Reaper. VERY scary!
