Posing with her cousins
Trying to suck her thumb
Sleeping on her uncles lap
Even when she is sad
She's just so darn cute!

This is our new pet. She spins her web outside of our door every night. I call her Gwen.
You know, I heard a report on the radio yesterday that the "Monday Morning Blues" are NOT caused by people's dread of the work-week to come. Instead, the researchers had found that most people were depressed Monday morning because their weekends had not turned out to be as exciting as they had hoped.
Boy, not ME. Not THIS Monday morning.
The weekend started off great with squash with Tommy at the Rivers Club Friday morning. I wasn't anything great to watch, but it was fun to play again and getting dressed for work amongst all them Pittsburgh lawyer-types . . . well, it felt pretty grown up.
On Saturday, Kate A. and I drove up to Ohiopyle, where we met up with Katie S. and Schmarbo for a Pedal and Paddle . . . we rode rented bikes 9 miles through the very scenic state park. At the end of the bike trail, we met up with a dude who gave us a raft and we rafted back DOWN the Yough river. Lunch on a rock in the middle of the river--what could be better?
Making this very cool outing even cooler was the fact that Saturday was Falls Day--the 1 day a year where dare-devils are permitted to kayak over the 20 foot waterfall that's usually off-limits. Not only was it cool to watch these crazies go to town, but the event brings lots of visitors and activities to the park, which made for a very festive enviornment.
I thought I would come home Saturday night and zonk right out. But the weekend was just gettin' started, 'cause I had a PARTY to go to!
Schmarbo and I started it off RIGHT by stoppin' in for my first Pittsburgh Five Guys experience--what could be better? And when we got to the party, it was already in full swang. Chris & Peggy have an AWESOME house (actually, quite PERFECT for house parties), it was good to see Bernie, Helen, Pat C., and meet some new friends. Plus, Peggy showed me that Giant Eagle CAN rival Stinky Brooklyn in the great cheese department.
So Sunday comes along . . . I'm REALLY gonna have to take it easy after all these good times, right?--WRONG. Sunday finds me as the new owner of a surround-sound/Blu-Ray player. I love toys! It takes me HOURS to get to know this thing (all with the music cranked UP, of course!).
And what do we eat on Sunday night after an active weekend?--Kati, you know the answer to this one! Pizza. What could be BETTER!
So many thanks to Kate A., Katie S., Chris and Peggy, Bernie, Pat, and Jean S. (for watching Weber all weekend). Most especially, a huge thanks to Schmarbo for making sure I had a great weekend.
Strangely, in all of this I didn't get any good pictures. I shot some video of Tommy dancing with some other dude at the party. But it was too dark to proudly publish.
I know there's fun being had in Alabama right now, and I miss Kati & Libby like crazy-town. And I know my peps back in New York have a good time almost EVERY weekend. But there wasn't ANYWHERE I would have rather been this weekend.
And you know WHAT? I start off the work-week ENERGIZED and refreshed and ready to take the week by storm. No Monday Morning Blues HERE, that's for sure. Life is good.
I don't know if I would say "cool", but Pittsburgh really is a very pleasant city. Nothing flashy--just a practical, clean downtown place.
