A new experience for us: we went and saw the Pittsburgh Steelers play the New York Jets at Giants Stadium. This was, actually, MANY new experiences for me: 1) despite having lived in New York for so long, Ive never been to the Medowlands; 2) despite being a Steelers fan for so long, Ive never seen them play as the away team, ACTUALLY, 3) Ive never seen an NFL game anywhere other than Heinz Field or Three Rivers Stadium.
The outcome of the game notwithstanding, this was a great experience. True, we had to take two subways and a bus to get there, but thats New York, Baby . . . we ALSO didnt have to pay an arm and a leg for parking, then hike through ten acres of parking lots to get to the gate. And the bus from Port Authority to the Medowlands was niceit was clean and we didnt have to deal with any of the traffic.
It was fun to see another stadium. Yeah, theyve got all the same hotdogs and whatnot, but the cheers ARE a bit different and its just a little bit of a different look at something Ive seen only one way for so long.
Actually, the MOST fun about the whole experience was the reliable Steelers fans. I couldnt believe it, but the Steelers fan and the Jets fans were ABOUT evenly mixed. Really. Kati and I were afraid that we might be ridiculed for being the only away-team fan, but it couldnt have been further from the truth. Terrible Towels reigned supreme and cheers for the Black-and-Gold were every bit as abundant as they would have been at Heinz Field.
Too bad the Steelers stunk so bad and couldnt give us anything to cheer about. Butin the immortal words of my hero, Forrest Gumpthats all I have to say about that.
We had great seats. We had mucho, mucho fun-e-o. And we got to do something new . . . ha! I was just about to say too bad we didnt have the foresight to put it on KAMLOF so we could get a check mark out if it, but it WAS on KAMLOF! So we DO get a checkmark out of it . . . wow!maybe I dont even CARE that the Steelers lost.
(Yes I do.)
Well, it took us a while to find him, but we are pleased to introduce our new dog Weber.
He's 3.5 years old and was rescued from a home where the owner was hording animals. So little Weber got lost in the crowd and is anxious for some attention. Given that Westies are known to actually dislike cats and are prone to chasing- we are very happy with how the initial meeting has gone between Belle and Weber. I'm sure zillions of more pics are coming, but here's just a few!
